The History of our school
Our school was founded on March 31, 1937. Originally known as "Taichung State
Taichung Agricultural School", it has two departments: Agriculture and Horticulture,
with a five-year study program. The school is located in Huilai, Xitun District,
Taichung City.
In October 1945, following Taiwan's restoration, the school was renamed "Taiwan
Provincial Taichung Agricultural Vocational School" and adopted the "3-3" academic
system, comprising senior and junior divisions. It established three departments:
Agronomy, Forestry, and Animal Husbandry Medicine, temporarily resuming classes
at Beitun Elementary School. In March 1946, the school relocated to its current site
on Wufeng Road (now Taichung Road) in Taichung City, previously the campus of
"Taichung State Taichung Second Middle School."
In 1959, the junior division was discontinued, and the school began focusing on
senior-level education, admitting female students for the first time. In August of the
same year, it was renamed "Taiwan Provincial Taichung Senior Agricultural
Vocational School." On February 1, 2000, it was restructured to a national institution
and renamed "National Taichung Senior Agricultural Vocational School."
Subsequently, on February 1, 2014, with approval from the Ministry of Education, it
was restructured as "National Chung Hsing University Affiliated Taichung Senior
Agricultural Vocational School," marking a new milestone in its development.
Our campus spans a vast and picturesque area, with the main campus occupying 11
hectares on Taichung Road in Taichung City. Additionally, there is a second campus
(practice farm) of approximately 4.6 hectares on Huizhong Road, Taichung City, and
a third campus (practice forest) of nearly 90 hectares in Dadu Mountain, providing
an ideal educational environment. In its early years, the school aimed to train
foundational agricultural technicians, offering traditional programs such as farm
management, forestry, horticulture, and animal husbandry medicine. Since the
1970s, in response to the transition of Taiwan's economy from agriculture to
industry, the school has gradually evolved from a purely agricultural institution into a
broader agricultural-oriented school.
Traditional programs were adjusted and expanded into the current ones including
Farm Management, Horticulture, Forestry, Livestock Products and Hygienics,
Biomechanical Industry, Food Processing, Civil Engineering, Food and Beverage
Management, Tourism, Child Educare, General Education (Physical Education Class),
and Comprehensive Functional Class (Special Education Class). Our school also has
Continuing Education Department (evening classes) and practical skills courses,
including Culinary Arts, Horticulture, Baking, and Tourism Services. It provides
diverse learning pathways for junior high school graduates. The school currently has
approximately 2,300 students in day and evening programs and about 200 faculty
and staff, making it a leading agricultural institution in Taiwan.
The educational philosophy of our school is rooted in Holistic Education, emphasizing
life education, humanities education, and general education to cultivate students&a
